What is Thai Massage?

Similar to Shiatsu, Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), the philosophical theory of Thai Massage is based on the life energy channels and the belief that a person’s health and well-being relies on the balance of life energy called Prana (equivalent to Qi or Ki). The obstruction of Prana can cause discomfort or illness in a person. The blockages in the physical form are knots within the muscles or tendons. There are major energy channels called Sen Sib throughout the body, and they need maintenance to avoid any blockages or stagnation.

Thai Massage helps immensely to remove blockages that could obstruct energy flow in the Sen Sib, and bring balance to body, mind, and spirit. In therapeutic massage, the practitioner applies pressure on points along Sen Sib to relieve common ailments.
